I Ran 16 Miles.

9-25-23

Ran 16 miles yesterday. Still, I didn't feel great - my Achilles and heels are very sore and on top of that, the fussy stomach acted up again. Sigh. It seems, no matter what I eat or don't eat, running is just irritates my digestion. The Spokane Marathon is in 2 weeks and I'm ready for a good race and for it to all be over and done with so I can have the energy to concentrate on my work again. I love running and being in good shape but not having the mental energy to focus throughout the day and the stamina to stand in front of a painting for the many hours needed, leaves me feeling beaten and bothered.

Eliud Kipchoge won the Berlin again yesterday which makes it 5 for him and allows him to surpass the 4 wins by Haile Gebrselassie Gebereslassie. And that's saying something! Watching him run is a treat. "Poetry in motion" is a pretty good description I heard once. He's on par with Usain Bolt, just on the other end of the running spectrum. On the woman's side, Tigist Assefa won and set a new world record of 2:11:53, a mind bending time! The women, I think it's fair to say, are definitely stepping up and improving at an alarming rate and closing the gap on the men.

I spent the afternoon out at Dad's orchard today, helping however I could. Sandy's granddaughter, Isabella, was there helping Dad pick apples, and Lynda, Dad's friend from work, stopped by to chat and lift sagging spirits.

It's cool and cloudy at the moment but 70 degrees is the projected high for today, then the weather cools off again. The ash trees and some of the maples, are showing good fall color now but most everything else is still pretty green and lush. No frost yet either.
